Set 4 for Lorcana, Ursula's Return, just came out. So looking into nearby stores, there's one that has tournaments every Tuesday that's 40 minutes away, which is a whole 20-35 minutes closer than I thought the closest store would be, so that's nice.
They're doing a special 6-pack sealed event this Tuesday that I've convinced Eric and Ben to come along with me to.
Trick/twist is Ben and Eric have both played their first games of Lorcana just a few days ago. Thus, the training has begun.
The past few days have been a lot of talking about the best cards in a limited format, basic strategy, important inking principles and all sorts of related stuff.
Since then, we've done a lot of sealed practice against one another. We use a website that simulates a 6 pack opening, export our choice of 40 of those cards to the online client, and then face our decks against each other. I've played many games games against Ben doing this, and a few with Eric as well. I've also had them go head to head several times coaching the both of them along the way -- giving my thoughts during the deckbuilding process and making comments about their past moves; giving advice about how to set-up for better trades, use cards more efficiency, push for lethal etc.
It's been a blast. They've both been studious students, and it's been a lot of fun to teach them. I'll have to report at some point on how we all do on Tuesday.
Happy Birthday Dad!
